Let’s face it, we all have days where we aren’t exactly nice to everyone we meet. For some, it’s an every day occurrence. If you feel like Debbie Downer, then we have some tips for you. Follow these five steps to start feeling better about yourself and others. Let us know what you do to improve yourself in the comments below.
1. Judge Others on their Merit
It’s easy to sit back and judge someone for the circumstances they’re in. This is especially true when you don’t know what they have been through. Try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Judge them based on how they act, not by what they have.
2. Think About How You Can Help Others
Instead of looking down on someone, think about how you can help improve their situation. Volunteering is a great way to gain some understanding and it makes you feel better about yourself.
3. Conduct Yourself With Integrity
When no one is looking, it’s easy to take the easy way out. Skipping corners and cheating can leave you with bad results. Always do the best you can, no matter what the situation. People will respect you, and you will respect yourself.
4. Treat Others How You Want to be Treated
This should go without saying, but some people forget what it’s like to be in someone else’s shoes. If you treat people with kindness and forgiveness, chances are they are going to give it back. If they don’t, you don’t need them in your life.
5. Smile and Have Fun
Always look on the positive side. Whatever your situation, it could probably be worse. Enjoy the little things and appreciate the big things. Doing the right thing can be fun. The more you smile, the happier you will feel.
